Jen Kruch is an illustrator, designer, and letterpress printer. Her style is often described as whimsical and is heavily influenced by the picture books of her childhood.
In the winter of 2012, Jen created her first tarot card deck, Frau Grand Duchess Tarot, which is comprised of collage works from both current and vintage magazines that she had been hoarding for more than a decade.
In 2013 Jen started Shipwright & Co. with Jessie Alberts. The majority of work created for clients at Shipwright & Co. begins with custom illustrations by Jen and Jessie, which are then transformed into one-of-a-kind and handmade printed pieces. Each piece is printed by hand on a Chandler & Price letterpress that dates back to 1911, and hand-trimmed on a giant antique Guillotine paper cutter from the 1930s. Letterpress wedding invitations created by Jen and Jessie through Shipwright & Co. have been featured in You're Invited! Invitation Design for Every Occasion, published in 2017 by Gestalten.
Jen illustrated This Calls for a Drink! The Best Wines and Beers to Pair with Every Situation by Diane McMartin. Published in June of 2016 from Workman Publishing.
A recent cross-country move from Napa, California has brought Jen, her husband, son, and their two dogs to 27 acres in northwestern Michigan. They have big plans for the future, including an artist residency program.
