Jen Kruch is an illustrator, designer, and letterpress printer. Her style is often described as whimsical and is heavily influenced by the picture books of her childhood.
Jen is one-half of Shipwright & Co., a letterpress company she started in 2013 with Jessie Alberts. They print each piece by hand on a Chandler & Price letterpress that dates back to 1911, and hand-trim each piece on a giant antique Guillotine paper cutter from the 1930s. The majority of work created for clients at Shipwright & Co. begins with custom illustrations by Jen and Jessie, which are then transformed into one-of-a-kind and handmade printed pieces.
In the winter of 2012, Jen created her first tarot card deck, Frau Grand Duchess Tarot, which is comprised of collage works from both current and vintage magazines that she had been hoarding for more than a decade.
Jen illustrated This Calls for a Drink! The Best Wines and Beers to Pair with Every Situation by Diane McMartin. Published in June of 2016 from Workman Publishing.
At the moment Jen resides in a small fortress in Napa, California with her husband, son, and their two dogs. While California is a beautiful haven, there are big plans for the future in Northwestern Michigan.
